Hands-on knowledge of the land and the vines

At XL Vineyard, we believe the difference between good and great is all in the details. We know that making the right decisions requires knowing all the factors at play: even the small nuances that may go undetected without having an intimate, hands-on knowledge of the land and the vines. Its only natural that this belief leads us to using hand pruning and harvesting techniques rather than machine run. This allows for the identification of specific needs that would otherwise go unnoticed.

And we don't stop there. Rather than using a standard probe to detect soil moisture to understand water levels and uptake in vines, we use a pressure bomb to determine the amount of moisture in the vine itself. Going straight to the source for information is critical so that the right decision is made at the right time. It's all in the details.
